Dr Cynthia Kew Chia Yng is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Cynthia Kew Clinic for Women & Laparoscopic Surgery, in Novena.

Dr Kew specialises in antenatal care and the delivery of babies, general gynaecology, endometriosis management, advanced laparoscopy (keyhole surgery), and hysteroscopic surgery for conditions such as fibroids and cysts.

She obtained her MBBS degree from the National University of Singapore in 2000 and completed her postgraduate qualification with a Masters of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2005. In 2009, she was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) award for advanced training in laparoscopic surgery and endometriosis, which she completed in Sydney, Australia.

Before establishing her practice at Cynthia Kew Clinic for Women & Laparoscopic Surgery, Dr Kew was a Consultant at KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital. She held the position of Director of the Minimally Invasive Surgery Centre, where she oversaw the training and accreditation of both local and international specialists in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery. Additionally, she was the Associate Programme Director of the Singhealth Residency Programme in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, the largest postgraduate training programme for the specialty in Singapore. Her academic roles included Adjunct Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS School of Medicine and Clinical Senior Lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.

Dr Kew has a special interest in endometriosis and has been instrumental in setting up the KK Hospital Endometriosis Centre. She has organised public forums and delivered lectures to specialists-in-training on endometriosis. She is a member of the expert panel of consultants at the centre.

Her commitment to patient care has earned her multiple accolades, including the Singapore Health Quality Service Silver Award in 2012-2013, the Service from the Heart Award (KKH) in 2013, and the Long Service Award from KKH in 2011. Dr Kew has been a course director for several laparoscopy courses and has been invited as a surgical trainer and speaker at both international and local congresses and workshops. She continues to actively participate in training and education as a Visiting Consultant and advanced laparoscopy/hysteroscopy trainer at KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital. Dr Kew is a member of the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Singapore, the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy Society, and the AAGL.

Dr Kew is accredited to perform surgical procedures at Thomson Medical Centre and Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
