Dr Lai Fon-Min

Dr Lai Fon-Min is an Obstetrics and Gynaecology Specialist practising at A Company for Women, in Orchard. With over 20 years of practice, Dr Lai specialises in high-risk pregnancies, deliveries and key-hole surgery, and is dedicated to empowering women through informed choices in their gynaecological and obstetric care.

Dr Lai is a proponent of natural birthing methods and has been actively involved in the waterbirth movement in private hospitals in Singapore. He supports various birthing plans, including home births, HypnoBirthing, and Spinning Babies, and has delivered over 71 vaginal breech deliveries, 254 VBACs, 49 vaginal twin deliveries, and 112 home births.

Dr Lai graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1987 and obtained his post-graduate degrees in 1993. He was awarded the Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) fellowship in 1996, specialising in Fetal Medicine at Birmingham Women's Hospital, UK. Dr Lai has been practising privately since 2002, following his tenure at KK Women's and Children's Hospital, where he was the Head of the Antenatal Risk Assessment Unit and a consultant in Minimally Invasive Surgery.
In his role as a private practitioner, Dr Lai continues to serve as the Visiting Head of the Antenatal Risk Assessment Unit at KK Women's Hospital. He is certified by the Fetal Medicine Foundation, London, for various prenatal assessments and is accredited for Level 3 obstetric fetal anomaly scans, chorionic villous sampling (CVS), amniocentesis, and laparoscopic surgery. Dr Lai is also a certified Clinical Hypnotist and has been involved in various professional roles, including serving as President of the College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, Singapore, from 2009-2010, and currently as a Council member of the Academy of Medicine.
