Dr Thor Timothy Anuntapon Chutatape is a consultant Anaesthesiologist at Novena Pain Management Centre, in Novena.
Dr. Thor Timothy specialises in Pain Medicine with a focus on both acute and chronic pain management. His expertise includes minimally invasive interventional pain techniques such as spinal cord stimulation, intrathecal pump placement, and radiofrequency neuromodulation and ablation techniques. These methods provide less risky alternatives to open surgery, especially for at-risk patients. Dr. Thor has a particular interest in ultrasound-guided regenerative techniques to treat neck, back, joint pains, and ligament injuries. He is dedicated to helping patients manage post-operative pain to prevent chronic post-surgical pain.
Dr. Thor received his medical degree from the National University of Singapore. He then completed his Masters of Medicine (Anaesthesiology) and received his Specialist Board Accreditation. He went on to complete the Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FFPMANZCA) after passing examinations in Melbourne. Additionally, he is a Fellow of the Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP, USA) with the World Institute of Pain based in North Carolina. Dr. Thor is also a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore (FAMS) and its Pain Chapter.
Dr. Thor has served as the Director of Acute Pain Services at Singapore General Hospital and as a Visiting Consultant at various institutions, including Sengkang General Hospital, KK Women and Children’s Hospital, National Dental Centre, National Cancer Centre, National Heart Centre, and Singapore National Eye Centre. He was awarded the Human Manpower Development Programme Award by the Ministry of Health of Singapore to specialise in Cancer and Chronic Pain at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney, Australia, where he was trained in advanced pain management techniques.
Dr. Thor has been involved in mentoring and lecturing doctors within the SingHealth cluster and teaching students from Yong Loo Lin and Duke-NUS medical schools. He has contributed to pain research and shared his insights through television and newspaper features. Additionally, he has run masterclasses and seminars for the public, participated in pain workshops, and given talks to general practitioners in various forums. His commitment to educating both the public and medical professionals about pain management is a testament to his dedication to improving quality of life.
