Dr Tony Tan is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and the Director of Tony Tan Women and Fetal Clinic at Thomson, Singapore.

Dr Tan specialises in the management of high-risk pregnancies, including twin pregnancies (both monochorionic and dichorionic), miscarriages, and the screening and diagnosis of fetal abnormalities. His expertise extends to the prevention and management of preterm labour, pre-eclampsia, intrauterine growth restriction, and strategies to prevent stillbirth. He performs diagnostic scans (e.g., first trimester screening, second trimester fetal anomaly scan, third trimester growth scan, and Doppler studies) and invasive diagnostic procedures (e.g., amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling) using a high-resolution ultrasound machine (GE E8).

In addition to managing high-risk pregnancies, Dr Tan provides care for low-risk pregnancies and has developed evidence-based protocols for clinics and labour wards. He also focuses on non-pregnant women, offering gynaecological screening, and managing conditions such as fibroids, ovarian cysts, adenomyosis, endometriosis, and pelvic inflammatory disease. He performs various gynaecological operations, including hysteroscopy, dilatation and curettage, hysterectomy, myomectomy, and ovarian cystectomy. While he does not perform assisted reproductive techniques like SO-IUI and IVF, he manages high-risk pregnancies resulting from these procedures.

Dr Tan graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1993. He obtained his Master of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2000. He furthered his training in fetal medicine, including twin pregnancies, at Queen Charlotte's Hospital, London, until June 2003.

Dr Tan served as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in the Department of Maternal Fetal Medicine at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital until October 2006. He then worked as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and Clinical Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine at Raffles Hospital from November 2006 to June 2019. Since July 1, 2019, he has been running his own clinic and has been the Medical Director of the Alvernia Obstetric Screening Centre.

Dr Tan has published extensively in academic journals and is frequently invited to give lectures at local, regional, and international medical conferences. He was President of the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Singapore (2013-2014) and Chairman of the Maternal Fetal Medicine Committee of the Asia-Oceanic Federation of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (2013-2017). He is a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (UK) and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, and a member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He also serves as an examiner for the MRCOG examinations and local OG trainees’ exit examinations.

Dr Tony Tan is accredited to perform surgical procedures at Thomson Medical Centre, Mount Alvernia Hospital, Raffles Hospital, and Parkway Hospitals (Mount Elizabeth Orchard and Novena, Gleneagles, Parkway East).
