Dr Wong Thien Chong Marcus is a senior consultant plastic surgeon currently practising at his own clinic, Wong's Plastic Surgery Centre located at Napier. With more than 21 years of experience in the public healthcare sector, Dr Wong specialises in a range of plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic procedures. His clinical interests include double eyelid surgery, breast augmentation and reconstruction, facelift techniques and body contouring.
Dr Wong graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Singapore. He further obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) in Edinburgh, UK, and a Master of Medicine in Surgery from Singapore. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS) in Plastic Surgery. Dr Wong has completed several overseas fellowships in aesthetic and reconstructive microsurgery, training in Taiwan, People's Republic of China, South Korea, Brazil and the United States of America.
Prior to his current practice, Dr Wong served for more than two decades in public healthcare. As the founding head of the Plastic Surgery Service at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, he established this specialty within the institution. He also served as the Programme Director for the National Healthcare Group's plastic surgery residency programme and as a Residency Advisory Committee member for the national plastic surgery residency training programme. Dr Wong was a member of the Singapore Medical Council's working committee for the Guidelines of Aesthetic Practices for Doctors (2016 Edition).
Beyond his clinical work, Dr Wong was Chairman of the Chapter of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeons from 2011-2015 and has been a council member of the College of Surgeons, Academy of Medicine, Singapore since 2011. His academic involvement includes positions as Assistant Professor at Nanyang Technological University, Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and Clinical Teacher at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. Dr Wong has published in peer-reviewed journals including Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Annals of Plastic Surgery, and the Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery. He serves as a reviewer for the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Global journal.
Dr Wong has received research grants from NHG, NTU, A*STAR, and the National Medical Research Council, as well as industry grants from companies like Novus Scientific and Osteopore. He was nominated for the Young Surgeons Award from the Asian Surgical Association in 2003, received the Health Manpower Development Program Scholarship in 2007, and was awarded the Gold Medal from the Academy of Medicine in 2008 for his performance in the national plastic surgery board examination.
He has participated in medical missions to Indonesia, Cambodia, Myanmar and China with organisations including the Singapore Armed Forces, Tzu Chi Foundation, Song Heng Association, Singapore International Foundation and Rotary International.
Dr Marcus Wong is accredited to perform surgical procedures at Thomson Medical Centre.
