What is Moxibustion?
Moxibustion is a TCM therapy that involves the burning of moxa, a cone or stick made of ground mugwort leaves, on or near the skin. The heat generated from the burning moxa penetrates deeply into the body, stimulating circulation and promoting healing. This practice dates back over 2,500 years and is often used alongside acupuncture.
The two main methods are:
- Indirect moxibustion, where the moxa is burned close to the skin (more commonly used).
- Direct moxibustion, where the moxa is placed directly on the skin.

Standard Moxibustion Therapy
Our standard therapy involves indirect moxibustion, where moxa sticks are held close to the skin or placed on acupuncture points to stimulate healing. This method is safe, comfortable, and effective for general wellness and pain relief.

Treatment Process
Initial Consultation
Discuss your health concerns and goals with the practitioner. This includes medical history intake, pulse and tongue diagnosis.
Preparation
You will be comfortably positioned on the bed, with the treatment area exposed. Common treatment areas include the stomach, lower abdomen, lower back and legs.
Application of Moxa
Moxa stick is lit and held near specific points on your body. Treatment may also include acupuncture at the same time.
Monitoring
The practitioner monitors the heat and adjusts as necessary. Moxa is typically done for about 15 to 30 minutes depending on your condition.
Completion
At the end of the session, your skin may turn pink and feel warm. Taking showers or going swimming right after moxibustion is not recommended.
