Dr Errol Chan Wei'en

Dr Errol Chan Wei'en is the Medical Director and Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist at Ascend Eye Clinic in Farrer Park. His areas of expertise include standard and complex cataract surgery, surgical treatment of diseases of the retina and vitreous (vitreoretinal surgery), treatment of inflammation of the eye (uveitis) and treatment of diseases that affect the health and function of the eye (ocular diseases).

Dr Chan also treats refractive errors, presbyopia, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, glaucoma and dry eye disease. His practice encompasses both medical and surgical eye care.

Dr Chan received his medical degree (MBBS) from the National University of Singapore in 2007. He completed his Masters of Medicine in Ophthalmology at the National University of Singapore in 2012 and holds fellowships from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists UK, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the Academy of Medicine Singapore.

Prior to his private practice, Dr Chan worked as a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Cataract and Vitreoretinal Surgeon in the UK National Health Service. He completed his specialist training in ophthalmology at the National University Health System in Singapore. Dr Chan completed subspeciality fellowships at McGill University in Canada and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, where he trained in vitreoretinal surgery and medical retina and uveitis.

Dr Chan is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retinal Specialists, the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and the Vitrectomy Buckle Society. He has published articles in ophthalmology journals and textbooks, participated as an investigator in ophthalmic clinical trials, and presented at conferences. Dr Chan has been a clinical lecturer at the National University of Singapore and a visiting consultant at the National University Hospital.

Dr Chan is accredited to perform surgical procedures at the Thomson Medical Centre.
