He earned his Master of Medicine (Anaesthesia) from Singapore in 1996, followed by fellowships with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) in 1997, the Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiologists (HKCA) in 1998, and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS) in 2000.

Throughout his career, Dr Tan has held several key positions, including Co-ordinator for the Duke-NUS Integrated Anaesthesiology Program at KKH and Senior Consultant in Women’s Anaesthesia since 2010. His contributions to medical education include his role as a Senior Lecturer at NUS and his ongoing commitment to training future anaesthesiologists.
