What is Facial Acupuncture?

Facial acupuncture, rooted in ancient Chinese aesthetics within Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), has been practiced for millennia in various East Asian countries and later gained popularity in the West. This holistic approach focuses on rejuvenating the face using acupuncture techniques while addressing underlying imbalances within the body, such as toxin buildup, heat conditions in the Lung and Stomach, and imbalances in Blood or Yin.

By treating these issues holistically, facial acupuncture aims to enhance overall well-being and confidence by improving skin health and appearance.

Benefits of Facial Acupuncture

While facial acupuncture may not offer a quick fix for skin woes as compared to aesthetic treatments like Botox or dermal fillers, the former helps to promote the long-term health of the skin from within, rather than just targeting the superficial signs of your skin condition.

How It Works

Similar to traditional TCM acupuncture, needles puncture the skin during facial acupuncture and create tiny wounds also known as positive microtraumas. As your body senses these wounds, it goes into repair mode – which is the same way microneedling treatments work – to improve skin texture and complexion.

These punctures also promote the delivery of essential nutrients and oxygen to your skin cells by stimulating the lymphatic and circulatory systems, nourishing your skin from the inside out for longer-lasting results.

What to Expect

Our signature Facial AcuGlow treatment will start with a detailed consultation, checking of the tongue and pulse and facial skin analysis. This 60-minute treatment includes acupuncture on the face and body, followed by a gentle rejuvenating guasha session.

Acupuncture treatments work cumulatively, meaning that the effects build off on the previous treatment. Therefore, 6 sessions of weekly acupuncture are recommended for optimum results. After that, treatments are recommended to be done every 2 to 4 weeks for maintenance.

Not suitable if you:

  • Have a cold or flu
  • Have history of fainting after acupuncture or have needle phobia
  • Have very sensitive skin or prone to keloid
  • Have ulcerated, irritated, bruised skin, severe active acne, severe sunburn
