Dr Adrian Lau Cheng Kiang is a Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon practising at Hip and Knee Orthopaedics in Novena.

Dr Lau specialises in hip and knee surgeries, including primary and complex hip and knee arthroplasties, hip fractures, periprosthetic fractures, and prosthetic joint infections. He is also skilled in performing unicompartmental knee replacements and various arthroscopic knee procedures, such as meniscus repairs, ligament reconstructions, and cartilage repairs.

Dr Lau obtained both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the National University of Singapore (NUS). He was awarded the Ministry of Health Training Award in 2014, which enabled him to complete a fellowship in adult reconstruction at the University Hospital, University of Western Ontario, Canada. He further honed his expertise in unicompartmental knee replacements and lower limb reconstruction during a second fellowship at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, UK.

Before transitioning to private practice, Dr Lau was a Consultant in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Changi General Hospital (CGH), where he also served as the Director of Hip and Knee Surgery. He played a significant role in advancing clinical practices related to hip and knee surgeries, and was a key member of the Ministry of Health workgroups for Valued-Driven Outcomes in Total Knee Replacement and Total Hip Replacement, acting as the clinical champion for these initiatives at CGH.

Dr Lau is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and an active member of the Singapore Orthopaedic Association and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He remains deeply involved in research, with over 10 publications to his name, and is a frequent reviewer for respected medical journals, including the Singapore Medical Journal and Annals Academy of Medicine Singapore.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Lau is dedicated to medical education. He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and a Senior Clinical Lecturer at NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. His contributions to teaching have been recognised with accolades such as the Outstanding Medical Educator Award and the SingHealth RISE Awards.
