Dr Melvin Look Chee Meng

Dr Melvin Look Chee Meng is a General Surgeon specialising in the treatment of stomach and esophageal cancers at PanAsia Surgery Group, in Orchard and Novena, and Thomson Specialists (TMC).

Dr Look specialises in gastrointestinal surgery, therapeutic endoscopy (including ERCP), and advanced laparoscopic surgery. He has a keen interest in radical resection and peritonectomy procedures for oesophageal, gastric, pancreatic, and abdominal cancers. He also performs minimally invasive surgeries and has pioneered several advanced laparoscopic operations in Southeast Asia.

Dr Look graduated with an MBBS from the National University of Singapore and completed his Fellowship in Surgery with the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and the Royal College of Surgeons Glasgow. He further trained at the National Cancer Center Hospital in Tokyo on a Ministry of Health Fellowship in Upper Gastrointestinal Cancer Surgery and at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, UK, as an Honorary Consultant in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery.

Before entering private practice, Dr Look served as a Clinical Lecturer at the National University of Singapore and is currently a Clinical Teacher at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School. He has been invited to demonstrate surgeries at international conferences and has trained many laparoscopic surgeons in Singapore and the region. In 2002, he established the first laparoscopic surgery training centre outside the USA to be endorsed by the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).

Dr Look's contributions to the medical field have been recognised in the peerage publication Who’s Who in the World since 2000. He continues to train local and regional surgeons in advanced laparoscopic surgery and has made significant advancements in surgical education.

Dr Melvin Look Chee Meng is accredited to perform surgical procedures at Thomson Medical Centre, Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, and Mount Alvernia Hospital.
