Chlamydia

Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. It can affect both men and women, often without showing symptoms. When untreated, it can lead to serious health complications.

Genital Warts

Genital warts are a common sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by certain strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV). These warts appear as small, flesh-colored bumps or growths in the genital and anal areas. While they are generally painless, they can cause discomfort, itching, and emotional distress due to their appearance.

Gonorrhea

Gonorrhea is caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae, which is transmitted through sexual contact. This includes vaginal, anal, and oral sex. The bacterium thrives in the warm, moist areas of the reproductive tract, including the cervix, uterus, and fallopian tubes in women, and the urethra in both men and women. It can also infect the mucous membranes of the mouth, throat, eyes, and rectum.

Herpes

Herpes is a common viral infection caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV).

There are two primary types of herpes viruses that affect humans:

  1. HSV-1

  2. HSV-2

HSV-1 is typically associated with oral herpes, which leads to cold sores or fever blisters around the mouth.

HSV-2 is usually linked to genital herpes, causing sores and blisters in the genital and anal regions. However, both types can cause infections in either location.

Herpes is a lifelong condition that can cause recurrent outbreaks and impact skin health significantly. Understanding its causes, symptoms, and available treatments can help manage and mitigate its effects.

STI Screening

Many STIs do not show any signs or symptoms in the majority of those infected. Therefore, the only sure way to know if you have an STI is to go for an STI screening, especially if you are sexually active and have engaged in any high-risk sexual activity, such as having unprotected sex with a new partner.

Syphilis

Syphilis is primarily transmitted through sexual contact with an infected person. The bacterium enters the body through mucous membranes or small cuts and abrasions on the skin.

Syphilis can also be transmitted from an infected mother to her baby during pregnancy or childbirth, a condition known as congenital syphilis.
